Samuel Robertson
Creative Director
Artist's Statement:
Great Design is about personalization. You may find yourself in a home that was built for someone else, which does not feel like your own. It may ignore the natural world around it. We help homeowners resolve this and discover the most personal and meaningful ways to transform their spaces. With a lifetime dedicated to the Arts, we value the uniqueness of each person's vision, and we excel at effectively navigating the complex and exciting endeavor that is home design.
Meet the Designer
Samuel leads the design process and client interfacing at Studio North Homes. As a registered architect (in WI), Robertson has been designing homes for over a decade. His experience includes hands-on time spent in construction doing fine carpentry of intricate, bespoke designs. There are few construction styles and methods he has not worked with himself. These include but are not limited to: modern, contemporary, shingle, colonial, craftsman, farmhouse, prefabricated, modular, and traditional.

A lifetime of developing skills in the Fine Arts as a youth, Samuel studied at the RISD CE and Pre-College programs as a child- from figure drawing, painting, sculpting, and even mastering 3D animation. He went on to graduate from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. His lifetime studying Fine Arts led Samuel on a straight path to discover his talents as an Architect. His formative years developed his sense of stewardship to the natural world. Both a classical and modern creative- Samuel Robertson understands the unique pursuits of each person in making a perfect home, and has a talent for understanding the vast difference of taste every individual has.
Work Experience
Samuel has worked with many notable mentors in his career. At the start of his career, he worked with Windsor Mallet on the 'Solar Modern' series of home designs built throughout Massachusetts. The team worked both as real estate developer, designer, and builder pioneering contemporary pre-fabricated net-zero solar homes. It was at Tempietto Homes where Samuel first got familiar with the latest building technologies for energy efficient homes. The contemporary style offered a safe place to see the under-celebrated platonic shapes and organic curves that can easily be created with state-of-the-art manufactured building products like SIP panels, ICF's, and engineered stone.

Additionally, Samuel worked with architect and real estate developer Arthur Klipfel III developing modular multi-family buildings, triple decker's, and homes. Through the years with Arthur, Samuel gained the experience to become an Architect. Samuels mentorship with Arthur connect him to some of the best American schools of thought about modernism, pioneered by Rudolph and Gropius through the Yale program. Studio North Homes believes in the pursuit of knowledge and heritage with design.

After years of practice and becoming a licensed Architect in Wisconsin, Samuel worked as a project architect at two distinct residential firms in Massachusetts. Savoie Nolan Architects and Turkel Design, where he further honed a wide understanding of unique shingle style homes as well as mid-century modern traditions, nationwide. With experience all over the Country- Hawaii, Washington, New Hampshire, Vermont, Wisconsin, California, Florida, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts- Studio North Homes is prepared to design a house in any location.
